Node Dependencies

Is there a way to assign multiple nodes (switches) to a single node (router) so when you unmanage the router it will unmanage the children under it?  It seems like everything I had been reading said that this is not possible and dependencies are more for stopping alerting and not setting nodes as unmanaged.  Is that still the case?

I attended an Orion NPM webinar a couple of weeks ago during which they talked a bit about dependencies.  If memory serves me right, the trainer stated that placing devices in UNMANAGED makes the affected dependencies not to work.  I am not sure why the SW developers did not fix the code to avert that problem.  In any event, it seems like a new Feature Request for Orion NPM vNext.
