Hi, I was hoping someone can explain the log files ('SolarWinds.SyslogServer.Engine.log') created in the Syslogd folder to me. What purpose do they serve? Are they safe to delete? Can I set them to be created in a different directory?
Thank you.
We have a hotfix for this issue that you can get if you contact our Support team. We are working on a Service Release to rollup a few items, I hope to have that out to everyone shortly.
I've contacted Solarwinds 4 hours before. But until now I didn't here something. Did you found a solution here?
My message to support:
We're am I able to configure the location of the SolarWinds.SyslogServer.Engine.log? I didn't find the option to move that log. And this log is filling up the Disk. All other Logs are moved correctly
Or better yet... can you turn the logging off. It seems to be logging everything I have already logged in the first place.
Unfortunately I have not found a solution, yet.
I am also having this same exact problem with 9.6. This is the 3rd Syslog setup that I have done in the last 2 years and this is the first time I have noticed the engine logs growing out of control.
I reported this problem to SolarWinds last week, they told me it was a known issue. My drive was quickly running out of space so I had no choice but to delete the files and have had no problems.
Do you have a ticket number? If so I can look into this for you.
I can also say that I have deleted the engine logs and have seen no errors or strange behaviors of the program.
There's a solution for this. I received a hotfix from solarwinds on thursday.
But I'm not sure if I'm allowed to publish the hotfix. Please Solarwinds have a look into this case.
I'll write this into the case, hopefully someone will add the link here.
(Case #1152160 )
Thanks, I have installed the patch however I am waiting to confirm the fix that was sent. I noticed that in the readme it states “This SolarWinds buddy drop is designed to fix the following issue: * MAC address gets broken in received SNMP traps” – not exactly a relevant title but willing to give it a try.

the same as I tought
Issue is fixed in the latest 9.6.1 release.
