Need to learn the Solarwinds environment better . . .

Hello all,

New to the Thwack community and seeking some advice on taking my Solarwinds knowledge to the next level. I've been using it for the past two years as a NOC analyst, mostly centered around Alert Central and some of the monitoring tools for servers and network devices. Any online trainings on the site or good resources available to get more familiar with what we have here in at my new employer and new role as an incident manager? Big part of my role will be root cause analysis and knowing Solarwinds more intimately should help me greatly in seeing the interoperability between apps, servers, network, and VM to get a better picture of why things break and how we can stop it from happening more often.

Well obviously you could look around on thwack, there are lots of neat things on here that you could apply and learn In addition i've heard lots of people say good things about the Loop1 SolarWinds training courses (SolarWinds Training & Professional Services | Loop1 Systems, Inc.). Those are online or i believe they also have on-site training. SolarWinds also has free virtual classrooms for customers. Just go log in to your Customer Portal (Customer Portal Login | SolarWinds) and under the support tab their should be virtual classrooms. actually in Oct they are having their 101 and 102 classes which apparently are pretty introductory and their more advanced 201-202 classes will be the following week. I'll be attending these ^^ You could always watch the SolarWinds lab videos which I think are also on here, but here is their youtube page which has lots of good stuff on it solarwindsinc - YouTube‌ Otherwise you could always just play around in your SolarWinds environment Hope this helps a fellow learner (i've been working with our Solarwinds environment for only 3 months )

I think a good place to start is the Library & Support page. You'll find here lots of resources about all Solarwinds products.

You might also try SolarWinds Lab if you want to boost your knowledge.
