I like Marvel more than Dc.
Now this is a tough question. I have one answer for my 1960s childhood and one for my late 1990s fatherhood.
I grew up in the Silver Age and read everything: Marvel, DC, Gold Key, Atlas, Tower, Charlton.... My favorites then were Marvel (Fantastic 4, Silver Surfer, Captain America, and Gene Colan's Capt. Marvel) as well as Magnus: Robot Fighter and Solar (GoldKey) and Wally Wood's Agents of T.H.U.N.D.E.R.
Flash forward a few decades and when my nephews and daughters started reading comics I began to like DC characters best.
A side note about the 1960s and 1970s (and probably just another back-in-my-day rant). Growing up everyone I knew read and collected comic books and baseball and basketball cards. There was not a nerd/jock dichotomy. We all loved both sports and Star Trek, westerns and sci.fi. It was much different than when my daughters were that age.
That is very interesting mhinton. DC is really good. How do you feel about the New 52 and different types of kryptonite? My father said they're just changing the story. Although that's what the new 52 is doing I believe different types of kryptonite is just adding to the story.
