Basic Cisco Device for IP SLA Monitor

Question

I am looking to setup the IP SLA Monitor and reading the specs it states that you need to setup a Cisco device for IP SLA operations. The majority of our remote sites have no Cisco, mainly Juniper.

So I need to purchase a basic Cisco device that will run IP SLA operations.

Does anyone do this already or can recommend a basic device I can use.

i.e can I run this on a 2610XM router?

The IP SLA support is actually matter of Cisco IOS. Version 12.4(4)T and later contain IP SLA support.

I think all the main Cisco ranges support IP SLA.

Just one thing to bear in mind... What sort of tests do you want to run? Some basic tests (ICMP Echo, for instance) will work regardless of the remote device type. Some tests, however, require a Cisco device at the remote end with a certain responder agent running.

There is also some suggestion that some other vendors (Juniper included) may support IP SLA operations on some of their devices.
