What does "operation setup on the node failed. No access. " mean?

I recently auto-configured nodes in my database for IPSLA operations using the IPSLA Settings page. I then attempted to configure a ICMP echo operation between two of those nodes. The operation was configured successfully, but the current state of the operation shows down with a Status Message of:

"Operation setup on the node failed. No access."

What does this mean?

The write strings are only required for creating an operation on the device, which is why you were able to add the device to IPSLAM without any problem.  You've raised an excellent point about usability, though; we shouldn't tell you the configuration was successful if we weren't able to actually write an operation to the device.  I've logged this and we'll address it in a future release.

For now, check your write strings.

Yes the node addition went off fine. And, as I said, I used IPSLA itself to discover and auto-configure IPSLA on the nodes. So, how could IPSLA then have difficulty configuring the SLA operations if it was supposedly successful in the initial configuration?

In most of the cases, this means that IP SLA Manager is not able to access the device for writing. Please make sure you have correct SNMP write credentials entered for nodes that you want to create operations on.

When you were adding nodes to IP SLA Manager, did it pass with no errors or warnings?
