how to set up a user experience monitor?

I am trying to set up a new user experience monitor nad am having some difficulty understanding the process. Specifically, how do I set one up to test the ability of a client machine to hit a particular website? Do I enter the address (in the URL blank)of the website that I want to test the connection to?

If so, does that mean that any node tha I assign tht monitor to will be tested for its ability to reach that website?

Yes, you enter the URL of the target website. For the node, you can add the IP address (even it it's external) as an ICMP-only node. e.g., if you were trying to see if www.Google.com is up, you can figure out the IP address of Google and add it as an ICMP-only node. Then you create an HTTP monitor to test the URL.

To be clear, this will test the Orion Server's ability to hit the URL you enter. The goal of the monitor is to test that the HTTP Server is working on a particular, not that a particular node has HTTP access to a server.

That doesn't make sense. Why would I only want to test the ability of the Orion server to access a website? I want to know whether any node on my network to which the monitor is assigned can reach that web page.

How do I set that up?

Was there ever a reply to this? We are wondering the same thing. If you ssign a user experience template to a particular node, shouldn't the check be done from that node?

You could use Cisco IP SLA for this. I realize you probably want to test a server's ability to reach a page. But this might be worth looking at as well.
