text alerts from ipmonitor

Can anyone provide me with the exact manufacturer and model information of a gsm modem or handset to setup text alerts from ip monitor

a lot of information refers to older equipment which cant be purchased now,

Also am i right in thinking all i need to send texts are a gsm modem

Any GSM MODEM should work as long as it is compatible with your hardware, the finishing part is to install Notepager Pro from http://www.notepager.com/ , since Orion NPM is set up to send SMS alerts using this software. Here is a link to others that have had issues setting it up.....

I didn't have any issues it was straight forward and works. I think the software had a modest charge, but def. worth it to have alerting no matter what the condition of our Internet connections.

BTW if you want two way messaging then there is a Pagegate software that will allow this from the same company. I have read numerous occurrences of people using this software instead of Notepager Pro.

I have also read on THWACK about others using Internet based SaaS solutions, but the drawback here is if your Internet connection is down, so is SMS alerting.

so can ipmonitor not text directly i need additional software such as notepager

I just noticed that you are using IP monitor....sorry Geoff, I am using Orion NPM and as such am not sure if the setup is the same.
