Active Alerts - NOC Wallboard View

I'd like to adjust the home page for our NOC. We currently display a nodes down view, nodes with issues, packet loss, last 25 events etc. on a large wallboard.

I have now been tasked with adding another resource for active alerts. The idea is that there would be another section of the home page that displays an alert and who has acknowledged it (ie who is working on it), what time etc. This would basically be a cut down view of the Advanced Alerts page.

So far all I can add in is the Active Alerts resource which does not display what I want. I would like to be able to implement the advanced alerts table into our wallboard view but with only the following feilds - Time of Alert, Network Object, Acknowledged by & Time Acknowledged.

I have read a few other posts on similar problems but no one has answered this (as far as I can see).

Let me know if you think this is possible.

There is an Alerts view that pretty much shows exactly this. Assuming you haven't changed your menu bar from the default, there is an option on it called Alerts. If you don't see it, try putting this into your address bar..

http://<your Orion server>/Orion/NetPerfMon/Alerts.aspx

This is what I said in my post - I would like to incorporate an amended view of this table onto my front page.

We run a large NOC monitoring around 1000 nodes we need to be able to quickly determine who is looking at what faults. We currently only have a nodes down / with problems displayed on a large screen so everyone in the NOC can see what problems there are. There is a lot of shouting to see who has picked up what fault so I would like to be able to show an amended view of the alerts page on the home page, as well as what I currently display.

Ah I see, my apologies. I thought you were trying to take the All Triggered Alerts resource from the Summary View and somehow add additional functionality to that not realizing that the Alert view was available.

I am not aware of any way to modify the Alert view.

One alternative solution would be to use FireFox as your browser and use a plug-in such as Tab Mix Plus that will rotate through different tabs using the Alert view as one of your tabs.

Byrona has a good idea or you could also use a custom HTML resource and take the html from that page and put in there or tweak to you preference.

Have you entertained the idea of creating a report for this and then adding a report resource so it appears on your wallboard?

If you're open to this, the following SQL query should generate what you're looking for

SELECT AlertStatus.TriggerTimeStamp as Time, AlertStatus.ObjectName as Node, AcknowledgedBy, AcknowledgedTime

FROM AlertStatus, AlertDefinitions

WHERE AlertDefinitions.AlertDefId=AlertStatus.AlertDefId

I can't take credit for the SQL query. I just modified it from adam.dostal's post in the Active alerts report thread. Hope this helps.

I am actually trying to do this exact thing for my NOC, I know this is a fairly old thread but has anyone figure out a way to do this?

I am writing a Tech Ref on NOC Feature and practices - I will include this if possible. I other community folks have a solution please post away.

For our NOC, they are intrested in Alerts, but many other things as well to help with coorelation. I use the "Events-Filtered" recource and filter for only type 5000 events (alerts) and all my alerts trigger to the console. Now my OPS guys only see alerts that they need to act on. The NOC sees the alerts plus a few other types that they need....

Sounds like a good setup.

I am hoping to setup a single dashboard for my L1/L2 NOC techs that only has a few screens. High Priority Groups, All down devices, and all active alerts, I was hoping that the active alerts would show who Ack'ed the alert so if the NOC tech saw unack'ed alert they would pick it up and work it, but it doesn't seem to show who Ack'ed that particular alert.

And I am unable to customer the full Alerts page.
