Hi there, I was wondering if anyone can assist me in setting up an alarm?
What i am trying to do is monitor ports on a node so that when that port starts hitting high packet loss it will alert me.
However having messed about with the variables i can only get the alarms to monitor the node overall and not the actual interface on the node:
i have tried setting Percent loss is greater than 40 on the alert which works and mails me fine.
bu................t i need the interface too (especially when the nodes a 7200 series!!! otherwise its manually looking through loads of sub interfaces and that takes too long....)
i have tried diffent mail variables such as below:
PACKET LOSS ${Node.NodeID} , Interface ${FullName}, ${InterfaceTypeName}
-+---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Interface ${Interface.Caption} for node ${NodeName}
The interface above is currently experiencing a high amount of packet loss which may be service effecting. please check and confirm statistics
Many thanks

however all i get back is the node name and everything else is an empty variable.
I have tried setting the trigger to interface but am unsure from there what to set to monitor actual packet loss and then alarm me.
any assistance would be gratefully appreciated!!
thanks in advance
