I have several unkown devices showing up. Is there some more information i can get on these like port management or something?

The unknown object are object that are responding to ping only and cannot be polled thru either SNMP or WMI. If they are windows boxes create a domain user wiuth rights to monitor via WMI. If they are network devices configure the devices with SNMP and select SolarWinds to monitor via SNMP.

Could you pls. specify what are these unknown devices? ( vendor/type?)

Most of them are dell pc's. Cisco switch. I'm not using snmp on the network discover though. Using icmp right now, just to see how things work cause solarwinds UDT is new to me.

Just in addition to wiszm23 post: Configuring SNMP/credentials in the UDT will allow you to poll Layer 2 and Layer 3 information from the ART tables of the discovered devices ( switches/routers..).
