Interfaces_NetflowTx_Interfaces.Caption AS Interface_Caption - CAN YOU SPOT THE 'INGRESS'?

NETFLOW INGRESS INTERFACE and NETFLOW EGRESS INTERFACE

Is there any way to get these named correctly within REPORT WRITER for when using them with SELECT FIELDS and/or FILTER FIELDS?

Both Ingress and Egress show up as the exact names so you can't easily tell them apart when trying to build a report.

( If you turn on SQL then you'll see them even more differently than that - as NetflowTx and NetflowRx).

I see 
 There is way how to do that, but not official way. So if you would like to follow unofficial way, be sure that these changes which you make, will be lost by upgrade to newer version or by invoke repair operation.

So, enjoy  In your installation directory find this file:

....\SolarWinds\Orion\NetFlowTrafficAnalysis\Netflow-OrionReportWriter.Schema

It's XML schema for NTA reports in ReportWriter. There you try look up string Interface Caption. It should be there twice as value of node DISPLAYNAME (ones for Ingress and ones for Egress interface). You can write instead of default value whatever you want, but be sure that it's unofficial way and we will not support it (but it works, don't worry and to be sure you can make backup of this file before you perform any changes).

Thanks for the reply but it is the latter part I wanted - 'the fields at Select/Filter tabs'... that's where it gets confusing while building a report having both Ingress/Egress.

Hi lchance,

do you want to distinguish this fields in a report header?

If yes, please follow this steps:

1. Add fields for ingress and engress interface captions

2. Execute report and retrieve actual data

3. Go to Field formatting tab and edit Column header for both captions

4. Save report

if not and you want to change name of the fields at Select/Filter tabs, then unfortunately this is not possible for now.
