MDAC Errors

Greetings,
I have an instance of SQL2K on my target system. After the install of SolarWinds Version 5.5 Engineer build I'm getting errors when launching various tool
IP Network Browswer give me an MDAC error. I wend to Microsoft and downloaded the MDAC executable, installed, rebooted and relaunched. Same error.
"Problem with Microsoft Data Access Components Provider can't be found"
Does MDAC need to be installed in a specific directory?
