SEUM Alerting

Question

Hi There,

Have been using SEUM for sometime now. Just wanted to check whether we can setup alerting such a way that down alerts are fired only when a particular transaction or transaction step is down under multiple location? My current issue is that even if I assign a same instance of a transaction to 4 different locations and even if one transaction or transaction step fails in one location (even though all is fine with the transaction in other 3 locations) it throws a down alert for that one locations. I want to trigger an alert only when a particular transaction or transaction step is down under all the assigned locations of the transaction.

Hello,

there is an already existing alert named "Alert me when a group goes down" so enabling that alert should help. But if you want to specify alert only for specific groups as I can see in your screenshot, you have the condition backwards. In order to make it work it should look similar to this:

Also by default if group contains elements with different statuses the status of the group is Warning, so you may want to change this behavior (you can change it to use best or worse status). The status rollup mode can be set in the advanced section on edit group page.

Hi,

As suggested the group for each set of transactions is created, set the dynamic query & also set an alert in  "Alert me when a group goes down". But still unable to get the alert if the group goes UP or Down. Please refer the screenshot attached for the alert created. Can anyone help.

Hello Shailesh,

as Zdenek suggested you can setup alerts for groups of transactions or you can use the following custom SQL alert. This alert will fire when transactions based on a same recording are down on all locations.

WHERE (SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT tad.TransactionId) AS FailingTransactions        FROM   SEUM_TransactionsAlertsData AS tad        WHERE  tad.Status = 2               AND tad.RecordingId = SEUM_TransactionsAlertsData.RecordingId) = (SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT tad2.TransactionId) AS AllTransactions                                                                                 FROM   SEUM_TransactionsAlertsData AS tad2                                                                                 WHERE  tad2.RecordingId = SEUM_TransactionsAlertsData.RecordingId)       AND SEUM_TransactionsAlertsData.TransactionId = (SELECT MIN(tad3.TransactionId) AS FirstTransaction                                                        FROM   SEUM_TransactionsAlertsData AS tad3                                                        WHERE  tad3.RecordingId = SEUM_TransactionsAlertsData.RecordingId)

To create this custom SQL alert select "Custom SQL Alert" in "Type of property to monitor" on "Trigger Condition", select "SEUM: Transaction" as object and enter above query to alert.
