scan subnet every X days
FormerMember
Can anyone provide some insight into how the subnet scan works? If I have, say, 400 subnets in a IP Database and they are all set to scan every 7 days, after a week will it:
a) begin a scan of all 400 subnets at simultaneously (parallel)?
b) begin a scan of all 400 subnets one after another (serial)?
c) scan each subnet exactly 168 hours after each subnet was created in solarwinds (staggered)?

Not sure...Does it matter? It will only run the scan anyway while you are logged in and have the tool running.
I created my subnet list one subnet after the other in ascending order and what I find is that it scans the subnets randomly not sequentially. While the tool is worthwhile i'd like to see an option where it will clear the subnet list first before scanning otherwise you end up with IPs no longer in use (particulary if you're scanning your DHCP range too) still showing as allocated. I know they have the last response time but still.....
