Integration with Virtualization Manager

I have a couple of questions regarding the integration of Virtualization Manager and Storage Manager

As I have the Virtualization Manager what is the advantage of including the VCs into the Storage Manger? Is there one?

How do a link back into Virtualization Manager from Storage Manager, the Target View in Virtualization Manager is accessed from both sides but only links on to Storage Manager

Any help, ideas

The integration between Virtualization and Storage Manager allows you to drill from an object in VMan (Cluster, ESX, VM, Datastore) to the Target View in STM, where a target could be a LUN or NFS share. The Target View shows you all the information about the LUN/NFS Share and what Raid Group/Pool/Aggragate it is residing on. If you turn on the VMware collection in STM, you also get storage usage and performance data for all the VM's on that Target.

The use case is this: If I problematic VM or datastore identified in Virtualization Manager and I suspect it is storage related, with one click I can drill down to the STM Target View and tell:

Is this a problem on the storage side - this LUN/NFS is sharing spindles with other LUN/NFS that is busy
Is this problem caused by another VM on the same LUN or a different VM on the same set of spindles (assuming you turn on VM collection in STM).

Basically, you can answer the question: Is this a VM or Storage problem, and what is causing it.

To turn on the link from VMan to STM, in VMan go to the "Setup" tab and then the "Storage Manager" link on the left, then fill out the form.

I am having the same issue. Integration from the VMan side seems to work. It can talk to STM properly. But from STM, I still have all of the empty windows on the lun level that should show VM iop info. (see attached images)

Have you configured virtualization monitoring inside of Storage Manager?

I haven't been able to figure out how to do that, if it's even possible. Didn't see anything in the documentation and when I click on "configure virtualization" (the link in my screenshot) it just takes me to the settings page with no further configuration options relating to attaching to VMon. If you are talking about adding vmware hosts to STM, yes I have and it is actively monitoring them. I was told originally that these screens would not be visible until I install virtualization monitor...which I did.

Can you post a screenshot of the logical mapping report from Storage Manager for the VM you are trying to see in the Target View?
