Unable to get the charts: java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: 10

Hi,

We just installed DPA on a SQL Server 2012. We are getting this error when trying to view CPU, Memory, Disk and Memory graphs in the "Resources" tab :

The other graphs (Disk Device, Sessions, Waits ans Licence Compliance) are displayed correctly.

Has anyone seen this problem or behaviour before?

Eric,

Can you open a support case for this one and send on some logs? This isn't something I have seen. You might also try clearing the chart cache options -> support tab -> clear chart cache. I still think a support ticket is a good idea on this one though.

Hi Jamin,

I forgot tho mention that we are getting this only for one of the monitored servers (the last we installed/licenced). This is not a system wide behaviour.

I really don't think this would this error would have anything to do with this being the last instance licensed. Please open a support ticket.

As an update to any users who may google or find this, it is caused by having a $ in the VM Name. A possible workaround is to rename the VM without a $ in it or setup a trigger on the CONV_VM table that will change the name back anytime it sees the name adjusted with a '$'. This will be patched and fixed in later versions. If you still run into issues or have any questions regarding this, please let SolarWinds DPA support know and we'll make sure you get taken care of.
