Alerting seems to be ignoring dependencies.

I created groups based on subnets and made each group dependent on the firewall for that subnet. But when the firewall is unreachable I get alerts not only for the group but also for each node in that group.

Isn't that what dependencies are suppose to stop from happening? What might I be doing wrong?

and Orion says the nodes are down, not unreachable

I found the problem. The nodes had 2 dependencies which caused a rift in the space/time continuum. Removing 1 of the dependencies sealed the rift and saved mankind.

That shouldn't be happening. It should mark them as unreachable. What is the timing on your alerts? (i.e. Check alert every 1 minute, condition must exist for 5 minutes)

Silly question, did you check to make sure the dependency is the right order? Group-SubnetA is dependent on FirewallA and it didn't get FirewallA dependent on SubnetA. (Although if that were true, FirewallA should be showing up as unreachable)

The dependencies are in the correct order. Internal group of nodes is dependent on external firewall.

Last night got alert for group is down and alerts for every node in that group when we lost connection to the firewall, and again when we regained connection.
