Is there a way to bulk activate the "Hardware Health Sensors" and "Asset Inventory" resources of nodes for monitoring? I have a number of nodes that did not activate these during discovery and it's going to take days to work through them one at a t
This would make a great feature request.
This can be accomplished by running the Network Sonar Discovery Wizard against those nodes. Even if you don't import any additional interfaces/volumes/etc discovered,so long as you select the nodes themselves that already exist and finish/complete the wizard flow Hardware Health and Asset Inventory will be enabled for those nodes which support it.
I've tried your suggestion and it still did not enable these. I have discoveries running every night and I re-imported these. No success.
I believe Asset Inventory is only enabled for pre-existing nodes when those nodes are discovered and re-imported/merged with information collected through the interactive one-time discovery.
I've encountered the same problem. I needed to create new Discovery Jobs and use the same monitoring engine as the discovery/poll engine. Otherwise the device's new items (Asset, Hardware) would be skipped because it was the responsibility of another node. I am not sure if this works for the routing tables though. I had to do those one at a time under list resources.
Interesting. I didn't notice if this caused an issue for me. I just set up network scans. I'll have to check. I have several additional polling engines.
The "small" installations I have upgraded fine and the recourses activated fine. My large installation (3000+ nodes) did not. Its going to take time, but I will have to manually activate it on all the nodes. It's not going to be fun.
Correct. Unfortunately background discovery (automatic enabling of features upon upgrade) is currently limited to the primary poller. Enabling features such as Hardware Health, Asset Inventory, etc. for already existing nodes that are assigned to additional pollers must be done either individually through "List Resources" or through the completion of a one time discovery with the :Network Sonar Discovery Wizard".
