please provide Alert examples for SystemUpTime using -Previous and -PreviousCooked

Hi,

I wasnt to see my system uptime in terms of days and hours and would also like to see the previous uptime when a node reboots

So I think these should work ...........but they dont

uptime in terms of days/hours etc should be ${SystemUpTime-Cooked} - does not appear to work

previous uptime should be ${SystemUpTime-PreviousCooked} - does not appear to work

boot is ${LastBoot} - does work

date of previous boot should ${LastBoot-Previous} - does not appear to work

As a newbie to orion, I am sure I am covering old ground for setting up Alerts, if anyone has a tutorial or a good set of examples they can share around building Alerts, I would like to get a copy

Are you trying to set up alerts, or generate a report? It sounds like you're trying to generate a report.

BTW, cool thwack name! I'm a big fan of the Foundation and Robot series. :-)

Not a report an alert. Currently if I use ${SystemUpTime} in my Alert email I get a number like

199.16 instead I want to see that as 0:13:54.10 like I do when I do an snmpwalk.

It appears I have use cooked for that but cant get it working. When something boots I also want to know the previous uptime, ie was it 407 days (a stable device) or 32 minutes ago (an unstable device)

Think I have to use -previouscooked for that but cant get that going either. Love the product, think documetation is ace........................but would love to see more examples so that newbies like myself can blunder through on our own without having to bother otehr folks

Sure other people want this information, its very common.

Try something like this:

${SQL:SELECT convert(varchar, floor(Systemuptime/3600)) + ' hours, ' +
convert(varchar, (convert(int,Systemuptime)%3600)/60) + ' minutes, ' +
convert(varchar, convert(int,Systemuptime)%60) + ' seconds'
FROM Nodes WHERE NodeID=${NodeID} }

Thanks for the reply. Did find that elsewhere, cant count in hours so changed to this to give days, hour, minutes, seconds

Hello,

I also have been trying to get alert variables to work when a Node Reboots, I have been unsuccessful thus far.

Here is my body of my alert email when a node reboots.

Alert: ${NodeName} is ${Status}.

IP Address: ${Node.IP_Address-Previous}
Memory Used: ${Node.PercentMemoryUsed-Previous}
CPU Load: ${Node.CPULoad-Previous}
Response Time: ${Node.ResponseTime-Previous}
Last Boot: ${Node.LastBoot-Previous}
Time Detected: ${ShortTime}

I would like for all the values to fill in for each node when it does go down and then also when it comes back up. This would be a major help when troubleshooting.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this to work????
