SNMP Node to Ping Only Node

I am running Orion NPM 10.1.3. In previous versions, we could take a node that had SNMP monitoring enabled and revert the node back to a Ping only Node for just up/down status.

I do not see a way to do that anymore. The thick client doesn't allow you to modify the nodes, and the thin client doesn't give you an option to turn off SNMP monitoring.

Am I missing something? This seems like a bug to me. You can take a Ping only node and change it to check SNMP, but not the other way around? It seems to me that I will have to delete the node and rebuild it, loosing my history.

Anyone have a suggestion?

A Work Around could be delete and add the node again.It is true what you say, I just try it.

Just out of curiosity, for what purpose you want to return from SNMP to ICMP.

This is an open enhancement request, we have never done this before. What would you expect to happen to the SNMP data we had gathered before for the node and interfaces, would you just want to retain in the DB, but all the views in the UI switch to an ICMP only node set of resources?

We use Orion to monitor our network devices. We had setup some critical servers on Orion just to have an extra eye on the systems. But we just use NPM, no APM.

Recently, our server team has setup an agent based monitoring system. Before that, I used to have Orion monitor through SNMP as a level of double check and redundancy. However, since they went to an agent monitoring system, the SNMP credentials are no longer valid.

Instead of setting up all of the servers with new SNMP creds, I figured I'd just verify up/down status.

Personally, if I made the decision to move from SNMP to ICMP, then I would expect to loose the history. If there was a way to pass over the up/down statistics, that would be cool, but it's really a bonus at that point for me.
