Looking at DPA and want to know what is running on the monitored SQL server so I can document how much resources it takes up.

Hi Newbie here...

I am looking into getting DPA to monitor our SQL severs. Right now I have the trail loaded and really like what I see. Part of the testing is to document how much recourses the monitor takes up on the SQL servers that I am monitoring. I have the main DPA program installed on its own VM and I am now monitoring a single cloud based SQL server. I want to document what is loaded on that SQL server and be able to see how much RAM and CPU processing this takes. I can't just say "less than 1%" and get away with it.

I checked the server and could not find anything under SolarWinds or Confio Ignite. Can anyone point me in the correct direction.

Hi Ben

There are never more than 10 threads from DPA to a monitored instance, and that is if you have many alerts, reports, and custom metrics running. We usually have up to 3 threads at most running. You will want to look for SQL connections coming in from the DPA server and program 'Ignite'.

! was looking for a service that was running and not just the connections. I have to compare tools for potential use and needed to know the server load.
