Interface Monitoring without up/down

Hi Thwack!

I want to monitor L3 switch interfaces for up/down and other statistics.  i want to monitor server ports for those same statistics but not for up/down - we have other monitoring on the servers for that.  Is there an elegant way of only doing partial monitoring on the server ports?

We do this by creating an "Alert" tag for the interfaces we want alerts for in the description field.

I guess you can call this a poor man's custom property for Interfaces.

In the alert configuration, we use a description contains text "alert" to trigger alerts for interfaces we want Up/down alerts for.
