We have been using vKernel for the past couple years but are looking at shifting away from it to something a little more enterprise focused. I do not feel the improvements in the product have taken place since Dell acquired. Of the software I have evaluated I think I like Solarwinds Virtualization Manager the best. I didn't really care for VMWare's Operations Manager. I found it not as streamlined and not as feature rich.
Curious to hear what others are using. As far as I am concerned, vCenter's default performance metrics are probably great for most, but I find that when you need advanced reporting, change control reporting, costing, resource growth metrics, charge back, etc. you need to turn to something else.
