Do you know if there will be any special support for Citrix Xenserver in the next year? Specifically, getting the same kinds of information like VMware: number of VM's; VM names; if they are in NPM; resource usages; etc.
This is something we are keeping an eye on to gauge customer demand. To be frank and honest, we are seeing more requests for MSFT HyperV support than Citrix, so based on that we are looking to add that next sometime in the future. You can use UnDP's to pull alot of this data via SNMP right now I believe.
Would you happen to know what OID's? I have not been able to find any to get the VM information from a Xenserver host.
Thanks
You can try these tools I created
Brandon,
Has there been any change in the position of Solarwinds with regard to interest in supporting better visibility with Citrix Xenserver. It looks like we will be rolling out a solution in our environment and I was curious.
There are 1000 plus xenservers being installed everyday. You really need to make an app management piece for xenserver like you have for vmware.
I am not saying never, we are constantly watching the market, but MSFT Hyper-V is our next priority. As you can see in this example of market share, Xen is there, but below others in the market.
Ditto on the request for Xenserver support
One more hand up for Xenserver monitoring.....
Regards,
Dan
another 10 hands up for xen here
Me too.
Add us to the list of XenServer users requesting support!!
Here, mark me down for having several clients who need Xen support.
Mark me down...
All Xen here (5.6)
Sign me up on the list :-)
Add me to the list
Running 5.6 and 5.6 SP2
It's an old tread but I have over 40 Xenservers that need a monitor and Solarwinds doesn't care. All they want to push is Netscaler monitoring with Citrix.
Any update on Xen monitoring. I'm looking for something for v5.6 if possible.
thanks

This is where Solarwinds is failing badly as a product in my opinion. If you don't come to these forums and encourage a popularity contest then you won't see support for a product. I've asked for various features over the years and the response is always been "we haven't seen a lot of requests for that feature"... heck we've even offered to fund the development of certain features (or native product support) and been told no.
Xen support should have been included as soon as they brought out Virtualization support, but as Xen is more popular in service provider market than enterprise market then Solarwinds seems to not pay as much attention.
Just my two cents worth.
I need Citrix Xenserver options too!
Just want to "bump" this ... Our Xen pools are getting bigger... Love to be able to us Orion on this ( we have started to looking for new product to support our needs)
XenServer/Xendesktop please!!!!
wow, 4 years later there is no support for such a broadly used product. That's a shame SolarWinds.
"BUMP" Solarwinds we still use Xenserver.. now v6.2 SP1
"ADDITIONAL BUMP" We have use XenServer for our main hypervisor, and we wanted to move over to Orion for our monitoring system. We see Hyper-V and VMware, but nothing Citrix related. I would politely request that this feature be included.
We are running Xen servers (5.6-6.2 on all our Vessels). Built-in support for monitoring XEN would certainly be an asset to us.
regards,
XenServer environment here ... badly needed and still no word from Solarwinds. In middle of upgrading existing products we bought from Solarwinds along with some maintenance stuff - this is where Solarwinds falls down ... they rely totally on "those who yell the most" to figure out their features. Solarwinds was MANY years late with IPv6 support for the same reasons ..
XenServer is the most widely deployed virtualization in the world ... just sayin... oh, and your competition all support it
Agreed. Me big time need XenServer support. ugh
Is this even on the 'todo' list?
BUMP!
