results missing from Top 10 Componenet/Processes by ABC when renamed

In order to shrink some of the reports, we renamed the templates from IIS - Internet Information Services to just IIS.

I thought this would change it on each of the nodes that were assigned to that template, but it didn't. They kept their old name. So I went into each one and renamed them individually to just IIS.

Then I noticed that each one that had be renamed, it no longer appeared in the Top 10 reports when you click on IIS under Applications tab. Things like Top 10 Processes by CPU Load or Top 10 Components by Statistic Data. They are all empty.

The only way to get data to show in those reports again is to rename each one back to the original name. It appears that these canned reports are actually tied to the original application monitor name instead of some other manner.

Any ideas? To test, look at one of your top 10 results for an application (IIS, SQL, Windows, etc). Rename the application monitor name for that node and it will disappear from the list.

Hello,
custom application views are created using standard view limitations. In case of IIS limitation it is "ApplicationName = "*Internet Information*". Just go to IIS view, click on "Customize Page" in upper right corner of the page and at the bottom there are limitations for this view. Click on "Edit" next to the limitation and change limitation from "*Internet Information*" to "*IIS*" or whatever you need. Then you will have your applications back.

I guess it might be a "feature" but I find it odd that nodes applied to certain APM templates do not get their APM name changed when you change the template name. Looks like you have to go back into each node individually and rename it to match the template name.

I found out the hard way that removing all nodes from a template and then re-adding them after you rename the template is not a good idea. While it did change the names in bulk, it also removed any custom changes made to the monitor, which for us were significant enough to cause more work than going to each node and renaming the APM individually. Just an FYI. Thanks!
