There don't seem to be videos on adding ESXi hosts to Solarwinds for monitoring. Also are there any recommendations as to what to monitor for ESXi 6.5? Any KB articles on grouping ESXi hosts and creating alerts?
A video would probably only be half a minute long as adding an ESXi host only takes a few clicks: Add a vCenter, HyperV host, or standalone ESX host for monitoring in VMAN - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support
What the software allows you to do then and how you make the best use out of it can be found in this handy guide: https://support.solarwinds.com/@api/deki/files/32048/VMAN-Administrator-Guide.pdf?revision=18

Hello,
The interesting thing is that i see some servers, but they don't show as managed.
Hi Jaime,
When you add a vCenter it will show you the hosts that belong to it. However in order to get the full features of VMAN you will have to mark those hosts as being managed by VMAN/Orion. Could you check whether that is the case for you?
Hello Steffen,
Thank you for your response. Yes, this is the case. Once the host is added it will be managed as a node. So what is the difference of managing using VMAN vs managing as a node? Or should both be used? I would assume that 2 licenses would be consumed? Once a host is added and is managed, alerts won't be emailed correct?
Thank you so much for your help. I was able to get the hosts added as managed nodes.
I notice that VMs also need to be added as managed nodes as once vcenter is discovered along with all the VMs, the VMs are not discovered. To find things like cpu, memory usage, or disk space, is this possible once the VM is added as a managed node?
