Wanna know what are the process to setup the Netflow Traffic Analyzer for solarwinds orion. Can someone tell me details by details. Thanks it would help me to understand on how to analyze the bandwidth of our server.
Wrong forum. Moving to NTA forum.
jesclynlapizar using NTA is a 2 phase approach
1. Install NTA on your Solarwinds server
This is relatively simple, download and install
The most important configuration would be the port the NTA server listens for netflow data. I use the defaults 6343 found in NTA settings
2. Configure your network devices (switches, routers and other netflow enabled devices) to send netflow data to the server
This is different depending on your switch manufacturer. I use DELL PowerConnect so if you want details on DELL configs, I'll be happy to help you.
just shoot me an e-mail
Hmm.. With the newer versions of Solarwinds Netflow its not quite as simple as he said, they really want a separate server for the Netflow data for its new custom database format. They have quite a few good install guides for that though. Plus, the default port for Netflow isn't really 6343, although that is the default port for sFlow, a Netflow variant. There is also IPFIX which uses port 4739 by default. These days most Netflow products tend to use UDP port 2055, in the past 9995 was the default. I would say 2055 is by far the most popular these days though.
If you want to configure Cisco products to do Netflow, use Solarwinds free tool until you get used to doing it yourself!

I use Sflow as I have an All-DELL PowerConnect environment
been using NTA on the same server and database as NPM without issue, but I have 30 nodes
Thanks for the details you give to me sir shawn_b. It helps me to know exactly how to make it in right way. I've been looking that net but still it's not clear for me so thanks again for giving this idea.
Hi sir Craig Norborg thanks for the tips and giving this idea about Netflow.
