What's Orion?

Hi all,

I am new to SolarWinds.The word "Orion" is mentioned in many places to some some SolarWinds product. But if I go to the Product page, there is no software named Orion. So I'm trying to figure out what Orion refers to. Thanks.

Orion is a suite of products to include NPM, NTA, SAM, IPAM, UDT, NCM, VNQM, WPM, etc. In the beginning, we used to refer to it as Orion Network Performance monitor, but as we've developed and added additional products, we kinda dropped the Orion name and just refer to it as NPM. Those who have been around a while, still refer to NPM as Orion, but really it's a suite of products under the Orion umbrella.

You're welcome! I know it can be a little confusing all the different acronyms and multiple names for things when you're new to SolarWinds! When I was first hired on, they had a glossary for all the acronyms! :-)
