Cisco Works 2000 and Solarwinds SysLog
nmcguinness
I am running Cisco Works 2000 on Windows 2000 but also have Solarwinds Proffesional 2003 running. I would like to use Solarwinds syslog for switch logging and have shutdown Cisco Works 2000 to see if logging now appears on the solarwinds syslog program but get the message cannot start daemon. Port 514 is already bound to another service.
Does anyone know how to run solarwinds syslog with Cisco works 2000 running in the background or know how to stop the 514 port from running in Cisco Works2000. If anyone knows whether Windows 2000 also has a syslog service which needs disabling for syslog to work, that would be helpfull.

Go to Services on the server.
Select the CWCS syslog service
Right click select properties and set Startup type to disabled.
