Programmatic Alert Definition?

Has anyone figured out a way to do programmatic alert definitions? I just had to re-work a bunch of Advanced alerts and there was way too much clicking for my tastes.

I checked the Orion SDK; nothing there. I also tried exporting an alert to see if there was any hope of reverse engineering the syntax, but it looks pretty ugly.

In brief, I want a nicely formatted text file (maybe XML or JSON?) in which I can define advanced alerts in a well-documented syntax, then upload to the server. If that's not feasible, then documentation of how to do it with raw SQL would be better than nothing.

In the case mentioned above, I had to change the trigger message, reset message, and some of the alert criteria for a bunch of alerts. WAY too much mouse clicking when it could be done easily via a programmatic interface.

I believe he is referring to simple but bulk changes to alerts.  I had to do a similar task earlier this week and edit 37 different alerts for the same thing.  I could probably have sat down and figured out a SQL query to make the necessary changes but out of the box there is no effiicent way to do this.

In my example I needed to change the "Do not trigger this alert until the condition exists for X" section.  Without a way to easily do a bulk change that meant opening and editing 37 alerts.
