Run script prior to pulling running/startup config

Question

Hello,

We have a a few switches which are "Stacked" together.  We can pull the startups/running info from all of the switches except the first one in the stack (the one that holds the main configuration).

When you telnet into the first switch the credentials pull through but the switch goes to a menu asking which node in the stack do you want to enter.  These are indicated by numbers.

Is there a way to have the device login with the given credentials, run a script entering the number of the device we need in this menu, then pull the config.  I need this to be ran automatically without hand pulling.

this seems to die and I am thinking the < and the > are tossing it off. I know it must be as I just put the line: Ok, sounds like you're making some good progress. You'll need to change the virtual prompt value to the following to use > and < symbols: Let me know how this works. I greatly appreciate your help for a newbie to your product. No problem. The cool thing is once you get the hang of device templates, it makes it really easy to add support for additional devices.

Thanks, I have another question: The prompt I get is Enter switch number to connect to or : thus the one line goes to: this seems to die and I am thinking the < and the > are tossing it off. I know it must be as I just put the line: and it works great. Is there a reference point on how to use symbols in quotes such as the < or >. See admin guide on customizing device templates. You'll need to copy the existing template used for your device and create a copy. Then, manually assign to it your device. You'll need to add the following lines to your device template: This is required to know when login is complete and we can start sending any commands to device. In this example virtualPrompt is 'Main Menu'. When we receive these words from device, we start sending commands. This is special command to enter into CLI mode. The EnterCLI command is sent right after we receive VirtualPrompt from device. Right after this command, we look for a new command mode prompt from device (single line which should end by '>' or '#' characters). Delay property is used for emulation of user input (e.g. we send each command with specified delay in miliseconds). RegEx property should always be empty. HTH,
