WPM 2.2.1 - Delete the contents of a text box

Hello,

I am trying to create a recording where one of the steps is to delete the contents of a text box (defaulting to the current date) and replacing it with the first day of the month. For example, I go to the date box which currently has "12/23/2016" and I replace it with "12/01/2016". The steps in the recorder shows it as Delete text '12/23/2016' and Write text '12/01/2016'. Which is fine and works well for that day. The following day, however, because the default date changes, the transaction fails. How can I create a step to delete all of the content of the text box without it being specific? Something like Delete All Text in the text box.

Hello Louie,

you can workaround this limitation by using "XY mode" to delete the text. When you are on the page with that text box turn on the XY mode (Edit -> Toggle X,Y Capture Mode, or use icon on toolbar), click into the text box with a mouse and then use either Delete or Backspace to delete the characters one by one. Then disable XY mode and continue recording in normal mode.

XY mode does not care about content in the text box so it will work when default value changes. If the length of the value is changing as well (for example 1/1/2017 vs 10/10/2017) use Delete or Backspace enough times. It does not matter that text box is already empty, WPM will execute the action regardless.
