Problem connecting to Oracle

Hi All,

I am trying to connect APM to Oracle 10g. I have installed the oracle 10g client from the Oracle site but when i try to connect APM it gives the following error for all of the counters:

Testing on node NODENAME: failed with 'NotAvailable' status

ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor

I have the same problem. The Oracle connection in the template only uses the service name. Checking with out DBAs, many databases are set to use the SID instead of service names. The template does not deal with that.

If by default SID == Service Name?

If no one in the community has come up with an answer yet, you should probably open a support ticket.

Already opened a support ticket. But support could not explain why their Oracle template could not connect to database, but both "tnsping" and "SQL*PLUS" could. Support could not tell on what connection mechanism(s) are being used by the template. They had asked me to contact Oracle for reason of ORA-12514, but Oracle replied no problem for "tnsping" and "SQL*PLUS" for a database used for a few years.

I just look around if someone may have confronted similar problems.
