The IP SLA can see the nodes, and I've managed to get 1 ICMP SLA working. When I try to add a SLA for HTTP, the configuration is not written to the nodes. Any ideas?
Does Orion have Read/Write SNMP strings? I prefer to configure the IP SLA via the CLI instead of Orion doing it for me.
Orion does not need to have the RW strings. You can walk through the IP SLA wizard and select "Monitor existing operations".
If you are going through the wizard and you select "Create New Operations" then Orion will need valid RW community strings. If they are not valid or the device is busy, it could prevent IP SLA manager from creating the operation for you on the device. You'll want to ensure you have valid RW community strings set up in Orion.
Pretty sure we are saying the same thing. If you want Orion to config the switch for you then it will indeed need the RW strings. Otherwise, my preferred method of configing the switch (aka learning the config commands) and having Orion monitor the existing operation would be the other option.
I have removed a 3560-24TS from IP SLA. It was originally discovered by the Wizard. I tried to add it back manually, but the IP SLA monitor tells me that it fails the test on the RW string. I have removed the string from the node and changed it to 'private'. The IP SLA still will not recognize this string. The 3560 is running 12.2(52)SE. Still looking to resolve this.
Erik,
This sounds like a credentials issue. Have you verified that 'private' is the correct RW string for that device? If it is, please open a support ticket and reference this post.
