CatTools: No Results From Device.CLI.Send.commands script against Palo Alto 3050 firewall

I have a Palo Alto 3050 running 8.0.6. I created a job to send some commands to the firewall and write the output to a file.

The test commands I'm sending are:

set cli pager off

set cli scripting-mode on

show system info

It really doesn't matter what command I send I never receive any output. Here is what is written to the file/the output:

set

fw(active)> set cli [Kjodonnel-adm@NBDCRPIFW1(active)> set cli pager fw(active)> set cli pager off

fw(active)> set

fw(active)> set cli

fw(active)> set cli scripting-mode fw(active)> set cli scripting-mode on

fw(active)> show system info

I can't tell if the firewall isn't interpreting the carriage return of is experiencing an issue with the interactive session.

Wondering if anyone else experienced this issue. I opened an case with support almost 3 weeks ago. Uploaded a bunch of debugs and screen shots, but not response from tech support since......

Try enabling capture mode (File/Enable Capture Mode), and run the activity. After it completes, check in your CatTools3/Deebug folder. This will show verbose communication between your device, and the CatTools system.

I could not get it to correctly respond to commands either.

My backups are also Flaky using the standard backup method and we get lots of config changes that never happened.

My opinion is that CatTools PA support is poor, and given that product support for CAT TOOLS is poor from Solar Winds I would not expect it to be improved.

Due to the poor customer support for CAT TOOLS I did not renew the support contract, and now I am considering finding another solution.

Agreed. Support for Palo Alto is poor throughout the SolarWinds product line.

I was finally able to get in touch with someone from support (the first tech assigned to my case went radio silent for 3 weeks). No solution yet, though. In general I find SolarWinds support to be poor compared to support from other products. Very inconsistent experience from case to case. But that's a staffing/management issue.

I still have my case open (00014114), but it has been two months with no real progress. The support tech assigned to the case isn't even answering my emails lately.....

We run "Opmanager" and the NCM plugin does a very nice job of backing up the Palo.

I'm about to give up. It's clear they want customers to abandon this product. My Palos are managed from Panorama so I just created a backup up job on Panorma to dump to an SFTP server nightly. I also backup using NCM, though. No issues with NCM. I suppose I could use NCM to run the commands....
