I am curious what the pros and cons are of the NCM integrated deployment on a single sever versus a separate server, especially with the console all moving to the WebUI?
Would really love to hear from somebody at SolarWinds on this one.
Hi,
OK, I'll reply for SolarWinds but I believe it would be also interesting to see what other customers think.
Maybe you could ask why we have the integrated deployment on a separate server. It's because of historical development. NCM used to be a standalone product and was integrated with Orion Platform (Core) in v7. Because of performance, the separate scenario was necessary. However with v7.1 we have NCM additional pollers and web performance was improved at the same time. As it is really costly to maintain engineering for the integrated deployment with NCM on a separate server, we are going to de-suppport this scenario. NCM is the only product that supports such deployment and we believe it's no longer needed.
Regards,
Jiri
I suspected that the integrated stand-alone deployment was no longer necessary. I would like to move to an integrated deployment where NCM is installed on the same server as my NPM primary. Is there a documented migration plan for this?
Yes, the procedure is described in NCM Admin Guide, Chapter 2, Migration Case 3.
