Manual says it will display syslog for the node being viewed, that is not the case, seeing other nodes. Nothing in manual pointing to any other configuration steps.
if your NODE in question is discovered into NPM and its IP address is the interface where SYSLOG messages will come from then yes it will show up in the NODE DETAIL VIEW.
i've also seen issues where that same IP address did not have DNS resolution, so i had to hard code it into the HOSTS file on the NPM server.
