I'm looking to potentially roll out app insight for exchange in my environment. If I roll this out in full it would be running on roughly 115 different exchange servers. Right now these nodes are all sitting on one polling engine and are all polling via SNMP.
My questions are
1 - What overhead would this place on a polling engine?
2 - Does App Insight work with the agent?
2 - How many instances of App Insight can one polling engine handle?
I've heard that the SAM Application Polling Rate is a threshold that can not be alleviated entirely by throwing more resources at your polling engine. Does this statement hold true?
Currently this particular polling engine has a SAM Application Polling Rate of 90%. This is mainly due to some aggressive WMI and perf mon counters we are gathering on 100 or so servers. If I were to deploy App Insight these assigned SAM templates would be removed.
