Adding devices ping monitor not available to select?

I'm on a roll with problems for this app..

When adding a Terminal Server/Remote Desktop Services or a SQL Server the ping monitor does not get detected thus I can't add it. I have to add it after the fact... why is this?

There is a known issue being addressed in the next release related to ping monitor not being available after an upgrade. Did you upgrade from a previous version, or is this a fresh 10.8.2 install?
