Advice re. additional poller & DB please

Hello, we currently have one SLX polling engine and is using 1 database. Within the next couple of months, we will be growing tremendously and I really need to think about expansion. Obviously need an additional poller, or pollers.

The question I have is do I connect the new polling engine to the same DB and split the polling of the nodes between the pollers, or use a seperate DB?.

Also for each addtional poller, do you use a different sa username & pw, or a different one?

I am also concerned that the DB will grow to an unmanageable size. It is currently 4GB, but we are looking to double or triple within the next year.

Our current customer setup is that we have many customers, and each customer has multiple sites. Additional sites can be added at any time. Currently all nodes are on 1 DB, if they ar split to different pollers or DB, will this affect alerting?

I have 4 pollers and still use 1 DB. The nice thing is by using that 1 DB then you can have 1 web site with all the data from your pollers. Depending on your elements you need to have a capable DB server to handle things. We went from 4GB RAM to 12GB RAM and it has plenty of HD space.

Ok, thanks. So do you use the load balancer to split the nodes on different polling engines? and if so do you run this tool after everytime you add additional nodes?

Or do you wait until 1 Poller reaches full capacity?

Our 4 pollers are set up in certain areas so we arbitrarily decide when a node is added to which poller it goes. I keep an eye on the # of elements a poller has.
