Web Report Custom Fields

I'm looking to create a custom field within a Web Report and I'll use the example Full Datastores (Less than 10% Free) from within Virtualization Reports.

The report shows Free Space in the appropriate measurement i.e. GB, TB..

How do you convert this value into a percentage? I know we can calculate this using existing fields and the formula Free Space / Capacity * 100 but how do you add that as an additional field?

That won't work because you're not doing any math against the data, you're just changing the way it looks.

Custom Format {0:0.00} % means "Return an integer with 2 decimal points of precision and then add a percentage symbol at the end" It's not really creating a percentage, it's just appending a symbol to the end of the integer. (As a note, you got that crazy number when you changed the format because this data is stored in Bytes in the database)

Currently, there's not a native way in the web report engine to transform Free Space > Percent Free. You can either do the math in a SQL (or SWQL) report, and then return an actual percentage, or you can look to see if there is another data point available that is a percentage.

Doing a little research, it looks like you could add a column to your report called "Space Utilization" and get back a percentage. If that doesn't work for you, then creating a custom SQL or SWQL report would be your next best option.

In display Settings, Delete the existing data unit setting and add custom format as {0:0.00} %

Yes, this was my first thought but unfortunately 127GB Free Space displays as 136359968768.00%

The Web reporting tool does not, to the best of my knowledge, allow you to create custom data columns that aren't already in the database without creating the source from custom sql/swql. If there is already a field in the db you can select it, if you need to modify the data in some way then you have to change the selection method on the table to a Query.
