IPAM MAC Address Learning

Hello,

Does anybody know how IPAM software learns MAC address of a scanning network??

Not all the MAC addresses are display on the assigned MAC address column and would like to know why.

IPAM will preform an ICMP and SNMP check against an IP to check for availability. A node with ICMP only results doesn't allow IPAM to see what MAC is being used. A node with ICMP/SNMP does allow it to see the MAC

Also, if you add your DHCP server it can pull the MAC info obtained in the lease results.
