I'm trying to download configs from Cisco routers and switches. I need show run all and sh version. Has anybody done this?
OK Gang I figured it out:
Configs
1) Go to: HTTPS:// YourSolorWindsServer/Orion/NCM/Admin/Settings/ConfigSettings.aspx
2) Create new "Config Type" example: Running All
Device Template Management
1) Go to: https:// YourSolorWindsServer/Orion/NCM/Admin/DeviceTemplate/DeviceTemplatesManagement.aspx
2) Create new template or use modify existing template that matches your device (I used "Cisco IOS")
Note: You cannot modify a SolarWinds created template but you can copy
3) Go through the tabs (pick a node, Excute script and download, etc),
4) Tab: Config Download, Config Types: fill in the command to show the config you want to run.
5) Download Test
6) Tab: Save Device Template, Assign Device Template< Choose device for this template
Now you can do manual download or schedule jobs.
I have NCM setup to download configs from my routers and switches. You will need to add each device to NCM. On the connection profile, I set it to SSH Auto where possible and in the communication area, the device template is set to Cisco IOS.
You will also need to go into the NCM Security settings and make the appropriate changes. I use "Individual" credentials and had an account specifially created for this. I initially used my credentials, but everytime I changed my password, I had to go into NCM and change it there as well. I hope this helps.
I know how to download "RUNNING and STARTUP" configs, looking to down load "RUNNING ALL and VERSION"
Did you see this post? It's an idea of how to get the run all.
Thanks for the link, did that and didn't quite work, I left a reply in that thread as to what went wrong. I don't know if there is an easy way to do this but according to the "Show Run All" post need to create a new "Config Type" but in reality need to also create a "Device Type". I guess my main problem is how to map the "Device Type" to "Config Type"
So far you have not been able to do a device download yet? Correct?
You also want to do a show run and show version commands? Correct?
You can view the config once you download.
You will need to configure a report to do a show version command. Is there something specific you are looking for from the show version command?
