NCM Catalyst Card Reports vs Cisco Cards

I have strange issue in NCM, catalyst card reports never shows any data. All my 6500's are running in native mode, i thought may be its an issue in inventory report but when I checked the file all looks into it as far as MIB is concerned. But when I run the Cisco Cards report it brings everything but serial number are missing. Any one who encountered this as I need to run report for all the line cards in 6500's with serial number which doesnt seems to be working with NCM.

Hi Omair,

I found that the built-in reports are also not of much use for us...

We use the following report to get the serials from all our cisco devices/cards, it works for our 6500's as well!

Thanks for the response but this report only gets data for nodes, I dont see any nodes like 6500 under which it shows installed line modules/cards.

have you ever run the inventory on those 6500s in NCM? it sounds more like you haven't or it has failed as otherwise it should appear in the reports!

we also have 6500s and they show just fine in the report.

If the 6500s still dont show up in the reports after you did an inventory you should contact support.

Try this, Omair:

* Open NCM and go to File / Settings / Device Inventory, and ensure you have all the Cisco items checked.

* Confirm you have done a current inventory on your chasses

* Run the Report at Reports / View Report / Inventory / Physical Entities (Serial Number). Note you may have to scroll to the far right of the displayed screen to see the Serial Number column.

You can also see the serial numbers in the inventory for a single switch by double-clicking on the switch in the Node pane on the left, then choosing the the Inventory tab at the top of the right window, and then using the Pull-down Inventory Details window and choosing Physical Entities (Serial Number).

I have numerous 6509's, and their serial numbers show up correctly using both of these methods.
