How to create a custom up / down module for the SAM Summary page

How can I create a custom module that shows only the servers or server group that I want.

For instance I'd like a module to show just the external websites. I have figured out how to add this group to the page in various ways with graphs. But all I want is the same up/down style shown in my screen shot.

Hi jacobjo,

If what you are asking is to monitor external websites in SAM and then have a resource that shows just them, here is what I would do.

1. Create a custom property and assign to all of the applications that you want in the new resource. (Assuming you already have the applications monitored in SAM)

2. Go to the SAM summary page and click Customize Page in the upper right.

3. Add an All Applications Tree to the right column and then move that resource to the top using the double up arrows.

4. Click Done.

5. Click Edit on the new All Applications Tree resource.

6. In the SWQL Filter area use the following - Nodes.CustomProperties.{your property name} = '{property assigned}'

Note. {} shows where you need to supply the custom property information from the property you created in step 1. Do not include the braces, {} in your SWQL query.

What you call "module" we call "views". The best way to accomplish this is to create a customized view [Settings - Manage Views]. Make a copy the View you'd like to base this view on [Application Summary] or create a new view and add your own resources to the layout.

[Edit] the view you'd like to filter based on some property type by defining a View Limitation. In your example above [Device Status = External]

Not quite what I was looking for.

What you suggest is creating a whole new page........ I just want a custom resource / module / widget

Of the three resources in that view only one allows filtering at the resource level. That one being the "All Applications" resource. Neither the "Application Health Overview" or "Application Events" resource can be filtered at the resource level. These resources can only be filtered for the view which they are on using the method described above.
