smnp or nprobe on netflow traffic analyzer

hi guys, first of all i got to say sorry for my bad english.

the thing is that i have 1 server whit solarwinds, and i need to control the network trafic.

i got 1 server whit solarwinds and 5 computers with win 7, all conected to a 3com baseline 2016 switch.

i configured snmp on win 7 computers and im able to see the cpu, disk and memory usage, etc. also i can see the interfaces on netflow when i manage sources. But no traffic is show on any of this computers.

it display the next message:

Details for interface 'xxxxxxxxxxxx' are not available because NetFlow and CBQoS data are not available.

whats my problem???

i need to use nprobe???

how i configure it?

Actually that is not correct. nProbe is a "netflow probe" that generates Flow information from the traffic that it receives (sniffes) on a particular network interface. If you already setup nProbe to see your traffic, what you may be missing is the SPAN port to copy switch traffic that you want to monitor to the port where the nProbe PC is connected. I'm not sure that a baseline 3com switch can do a SPAN port since I never had one of those. There is a nice Blog Article written by that explains wonderfully how nProbe works and how to configure it with Orion.

For NTA to collect data, you must configure NetFlow or Flow on your network routers, not on your computers. Once this is configured on your routers, and they are being managed by NPM/NTA, then any traffic going through will be tracked down to the machine level.

this switch has not ip so i cannot configure it.

i cannot solve this whit nprobe???

It's not the switch, you need to configure the router. Unless you have a Layer 3 switch that supports Flow commands. NProbe will simply collect flow and send it to the NTA server, it won't get Flow data from a windows machine. You have to configure a layer 3 router for flow.

now i can see my machine information on netflow.
