All,
Our DHCP admin deleted 4 scopes yesterday but the scopes and subnets still appear in IPAM. Should deleted scopes be removed when IPAM syncs the DHCP servers or is it a manual process of deleting the scopes and subnets?
Thanks,Kevin
The decision not to delete scopes that no longer exist in DHCP was mostly done to keep custom data in i.e. custom fields of scopes. When IPAM will delete scope, all the manually entered data will be lost ... and you know what will follows
It's very good idea to rise alert once the missing scope was detected on DHCP server. Let me create a "Feature Request" to add this kind of alert into set of IPAM alerts.
The scopes aren't deleted from IPAM. They should be deleted manually.
NOTE: Please set correct state for "Remove corresponding subnets" checkbox in subnet deletion dialog.
Thanks for the info, Ondrej. That's not the behavior I would have expected but now I know it's by design and not an error. Could you tell me the reasoning behind not having IPAM delete scopes that no longer exist in DHCP? IPAM at least alerts you when new scopes are found, could it not do the same for scopes that have been removed from DHCP?
Thanks again,Kevin
Ondrej,
Thanks for the info. I appreciate you creating the feature request for me!
