NCM 6.0 Running on NPM 9.5v4 not working

I just upgraded our NCM to version 6. I know I cant run the integration part until I upgrade NPM to version 10 (currently v9.5 SP4) but it seems everytime we jump to upgrade NPM we have all sorts of problems so we were just going to wait and make sure no major bugs were discovered.

Now that I upgraded NCM when I try to open it from NPM I get an error:

The Orion server cannot access the Orion NCM information service. The exact error was 'There was no endpoint listening at net.tcp://xx.xx.xx.xx:17777/SW/InformationService/Cirrus/ssl that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details.'

I can open the web page using http://xx.xx.xx.xx:8888 So my question is do I need to upgrade NPM to v10 for this to work or should it work with NPM v9.5 SP4 or do I need to change the port number to 17777 and run a reinstall? NCM seems to be working fine on the server but just not on the webpage with NPM.

Any thoughts?

The existing NCM 5.5.2 module on Orion NPM 9.5 should work with NCM 6.

What is the version of the NCM module that you're running on Orion NPM?

Can you confirm that the Orion NCM Information Service is running on the NCM system?

Can you send me the log files?

Simply run the diagnostics tool (SolarWindsDiagnostics.exe) in the NCM install directory (C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Configuration Management)

I currently have version 6.0 running on Orion NPM 9.5.

I did check the NCM Information Service and it was running. I stopped and restarted it but that did not work either.

Just to be clear the standalone website works fine. It’s when I open Orion NPM and try and click on the NCM tab do I get this error message.

Check the NCM server to see if the InformationService is running - Open a command prompt, type this in: netstat -na | find "17777"

The error is pretty specific, it's attempting to make a connection to the Solarwinds InformationService that runs on port 17777. If there is a firewall or if the services isn't running you'll get this similar error.

Here is the results of the netstat and yes the Solarwinds Information Service shows "Started" under the services.msc and Orion Service Manager. No firewall. Just not my day I guess.

At this point I would suggest opening a ticket with solarwinds support. You can try to restart all the Solarwinds services using the Orion Service Manager see if you get a new error. Check the Windows Event Viewer and look at the Solarwinds event log to see if there are any errors after restarting the service.

Did you make any changes other than upgrading? Change anything when the NCM installation wizard opened?

Oh yea, are all of the NCM services running?
