I have setup my KIWI syslog server to listen for SNMP traps, successfully. Is there a way to setp KIWI, or an available action to forward the SNMP traps to other SNMP trap receivers as KIWI receives them.
Thanks

Hi KIWI New Guy,
Kiwi Syslog has a feature "spoof syslog packet", which enables transparent forwarding of syslog messages, but as yet we have not implemented the corresponding feature for SNMP traps. It's on the cards, just not sure when (and in what version) it will be available.
Thanks for your reply Mike,
Is there anything you can think of as far as actions that can be utilized that can forward SNMP packets as KIWI receives them?
I appreciate all ideas.

Do you own Orion? Orion also has a build Syslog and Trap receiver and can forward them on
We are not an Orion user, unfortunatley.
We really like how the KIWI product fills the Syslog need and how it plays with SNMP. For what its worth, I would love to see the SNMP forwarding funtionality.
Can anyone comment on writing an action that performs forwarding of SNMP packets as KIWI recieves them?
Brandon,
Question along same lines. We like the Syslog & Trap receiver which are built into Orion, but can not afford the performance hit (or potential performance hit) by having ALL our network related syslog & traps going here. Ideally we would like to separate majority of SNMP traps to a dedicated receiver. Perhaps only having routers forward traps to both Orion and the dedicated snmp receiver. by doing so, any temporary outage of Orion, ie: during upgrades, would have NO impact to receiving syslog & snmp. Really don't think syslog and snmp should co-exist in same database as network stats (orion main db). Too many eggs in same basket.
We currently have NPM SLX, NTA, IPSLA, APM, plus 2 additional pollers to decentralized/distribute. Primary NPM is at 9,000 managed elements. Planning on implementing FoE for all 3 pollers. Have legacy OV NNM - demoted to secondary SNMP receiver, looking for alternative SNMP receiver to decommission OV, and was considering Kiwi.
Your insight would be greatly appreciate.
Hi Kiwi Kuz
Is that feature on cards?
I like to set Kiwi server as SNMP TRAP "barrier" or "first line of defence" to NPM.
That featrue will make Kiwi very very handy.
Any news?
Just a heads up -- this has been implemented in Kiwi Syslog Server v9.5 What’s New | Kiwi Syslog Server | SolarWinds
